Omar Negrón was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on March 3, 1972. He was raised in a musical family, beginning his practice of percussion at the age of three. His early musical development was guided by his maternal grandfather, his paternal grandfather (who was a musician and cuatro player), and his grandmother (who sang Puerto Rican trova). Under their orientation, he began playing traditional instruments such as the pleneras and the bongo, later entering a music school at the age of seven.
As a professional salsa vocalist and musician, Negrón has continued to record and perform within the salsa genre. His discography includes the 2026 single "Cuando Era Estudiante."
