
Edwin Morales
Edwin Morales is a Puerto Rican bassist, director, and founder of the prominent salsa group Orquesta Mulenze. Born on April 9 in Santurce, Puerto Rico, and raised in Bayamón, Morales began his musical career as a bassist before establishing his own orchestra.
Orquesta Mulenze was formed during the height of the salsa era. Initially, the group served as a backing band for high-profile New York salsa artists who traveled to perform in Puerto Rico. Under Morales's direction, the orchestra accompanied legendary figures such as Cheo Feliciano, Héctor Lavoe, Celia Cruz, and Ismael Miranda.
Morales has continued to lead Orquesta Mulenze for over four decades, celebrating the group's 45th anniversary as a highly regarded institution in salsa music.
