Jorge Luis Piloto

Jorge Luis Piloto Alsar, artistically known as Jorge Luis Piloto, is a Cuban songwriter and composer born on January 15, 1955, in Cárdenas, Matanzas, Cuba. He developed an interest in songwriting at an early age and eventually relocated to Miami, Florida, in the 1980s, where he began to establish his career as a professional composer.

Throughout his career, Piloto became one of the most prolific songwriters in contemporary Latin pop and salsa. In 2009, he won a Latin Grammy Award for Best Tropical Song for "Yo no sé mañana," which he co-wrote with Jorge Villamizar and was popularized by Luis Enrique. He is also the songwriter behind "Que le den candela," a widely known track performed by Celia Cruz.

Based in the United States, Piloto's compositions have been recorded by a wide array of prominent Latin artists. In addition to Luis Enrique and Celia Cruz, his work has been interpreted by Gilberto Santa Rosa, La India, Jerry Rivera, Rey Ruiz, Willie González, Frankie Negrón, Chayanne, José José, La Mafia, Lourdes Robles, and Yolandita Monge.
