Septeto Matamoros

Septeto Matamoros is a son cubano group formed on June 12, 1996, to preserve and continue the musical heritage of the influential Cuban composer Miguel Matamoros. Based in Old Havana, Cuba, the ensemble was established by the descendants of Miguel Matamoros, who was born in Santiago de Cuba on May 8, 1894, and became a fundamental figure in traditional Cuban music.

Currently directed by Emilio Matamoros, the septet performs a repertoire that honors classic Cuban musical patterns and the Matamoros family legacy, while also incorporating contemporary interpretations for audiences worldwide.
