Julito Alvarado

Julito Alvarado is a Puerto Rican trumpeter, composer, arranger, and musical director from Ponce, Puerto Rico. With a career spanning more than 40 years, Alvarado is established in the worlds of salsa, jazz, and Latin jazz. In addition to directing his own ensembles, he has served as a trumpeter for El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico.

Alvarado has directed prominent orchestras, including that of salsa singer Tony Vega. He has also contributed as a trumpeter, arranger, and live performer alongside notable figures in the genre such as Willie Rosario, Andy Montañez, Cheo Feliciano, and Richie Ray. As a leader, he operates the salsa group Orquesta Del Sur al Norte as well as a jazz sextet.

His extensive discography includes releases such as Changing Routes (2001), Desde lo Alto (2005), P.R. Algo Especial (2006), Julito Alvarado Del Sur Al Norte en Salsa (2008), Julito Alvarado Navidad Del Sur Al Norte (2009), Julito Alvarado Del Sur Al Norte Perseverancia (2011), and Julito Alvarado Del Sur Al Norte Special Edition (2012). He has also celebrated his longevity in the music industry with the release My Musical Journey, 40 Year Celebration.
