Angel Subero
Angel Subero is a Venezuelan bass trombonist, educator, and bandleader based in Boston, Massachusetts. Born in Venezuela, Subero began his formal musical studies at the Conservatorio Itinerante in Caracas under Michel Becquet. In 2001, he relocated to the United States to continue his education, studying with Lawrence Isaacson at the Boston Conservatory and with Douglas Yeo at the New England Conservatory of Music.
Subero currently serves as a trombone professor at the Berklee College of Music. Throughout his career, he has worked across several musical genres, performing classical music with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and collaborating with prominent jazz and popular artists including Aretha Franklin, Slide Hampton, Jim McNeely, Claudio Roditi, Danilo PĆ©rez, and Chris Botti.
In the salsa and Latin music fields, Subero is the leader of Angel Subero's Latin Logic, an ensemble that fuses traditional old-school salsa with Latin jazz and Afro-Caribbean rhythms. The group features musicians from Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and the United States. Subero also released "Pa'La DimensiĆ³n (De Boston A Venezuela)", a tribute album dedicated to the Venezuelan salsa group DimensiĆ³n Latina.
