
Álvaro del Castillo
Álvaro del Castillo was born on July 19, 1954, in Puerto Tejada, in the Cauca department of Colombia. He showed an interest in music from an early age, first performing as a vocalist while completing his military service. During this early period, he also sang at local festivals and events in his hometown.
He eventually became a prominent vocalist in the Colombian tropical music scene. Del Castillo was involved in the formation and early history of Guayacán Orquesta, which became one of Colombia's most famous salsa ensembles. In addition to his work with major orchestras, he has performed as a solo artist and fronted his own group, Álvaro Del Castillo y Su Orquesta La Calentura. His musical output spans both traditional salsa and Christian music.
Throughout his career, del Castillo has released and contributed to several recordings, including the albums "Llegamos" and "Salsa Colombia," as well as the compilation "Vamos! Vol. 6: Salsa."
