
Stephen Giraldo
Stephen "Mofi" Giraldo is an American trumpeter, composer, and producer of Guatemalan descent who was born and raised in Los Angeles. Raised in a musical household where all of his siblings played instruments and sang, Giraldo studied piano, viola, and saxophone before focusing on the trumpet starting at age 16. He later graduated from California State University, Northridge.
Giraldo has performed as a soloist and collaborator with several notable Latin music groups. His credits include work with John Roberts' Pan Blanco, the Echo Park Project, and Gabrielito Gonzalez's La Verdad. In addition to his sideman work, Giraldo is the founder and director of the ensemble L.A. Ritmo, a group that brings together Central American musicians based in the Los Angeles area.
As a bandleader and producer, Giraldo has released singles such as "Mi Cafecito" and "Ya Kitoko." The latter track is a son montuno that features guest vocalist Ricardo Lemvo alongside his group Makina Loca.
