
Born in Trenton, NJ in 1972, and raised in both Trenton and Philadelphia, he is of Puerto Rican descent and his family hails from Culebra, PR. DJ EL Tiburon was introduced to Salsa music at very young age by his father. He grew up during the Fania years of Salsa, and witnessed Salsa Romántica boom during the 80’s, and the RMM Records & MP Records salsa boom of the 90’s.
In 1990 after graduating high school, he started collecting Latin music while working in the music department at the popular retailer The Wiz. During his time, he along with other Latinos throughout the company contributed to the expansion of Latin music catalog at the store. In 1991, he ventured into the DJ world with his cousin Mickey Amaro at his side.
Over the years he’s done countless weddings, graduations, socials, and events specializing in Latin music with emphasis on Salsa.
Although he is diverse with other genres of music, Salsa music has always been his calling. Today, he continues to DJ live private events and at virtual events as well. He’s has also entered into the world of songwriting under Tiburon Music, offering songs to up and coming and seasoned artists.
He’s currently married to a beautiful wife of 27 years with 2 adult children. He currently resides in the Tampa Bay Area where he is still active as a DJ and also hosts an online radio show every Wednesday at 9pm on Tik Tok called Caribe Nights, highlighting new salsa music and interviewing salsa artist.
DJ EL Tiburon credits legendary NY DJ’s Johnny Fomulari, Norty Cotto, Henry Knowles, Baron Lopez, and Charlie Chase as his biggest influencers and idols in entering in the DJ world while growing up through the 80’s & 90’s.
