Frankie Vazquez, born Efrain Vázquez on January 6, 1958, in Salinas, Puerto Rico, is a salsa sonero and percussionist. He lived in New York with his parents from the age of six months to twelve years, after which he grew up in Guayama, Puerto Rico. Vazquez began his municipal career as a conguero with his own band, Los Generales, performing in his father's restaurant, eventually stepping in as the lead singer and playing percussion instruments such as the conga, timbales, clavé, maracas, güiro, and campana.
