José Massó III is a radio host, educator, and Latin music advocate best known as the creator and host of "¡Con Salsa!", a bilingual Afro-Latin music program broadcast on WBUR in Boston, Massachusetts. Running for nearly five decades, "¡Con Salsa!" is the longest-running music show in the Boston radio market. Through this program, Massó has introduced audiences to a diverse selection of Latin music, conducted artist interviews, and utilized the platform to address social and community issues.
In addition to his career in radio broadcasting, Massó has worked professionally as a school teacher and a sports agent. His civic and cultural contributions in Boston are recognized with his name inscribed on the 1965 Freedom Plaza, which encircles "The Embrace" monument on the Boston Common.
Massó's legacy in preserving and promoting salsa culture was honored by the Smithsonian. His life and career were highlighted in a bilingual exhibition presented at the National Museum of the American Latino's Molina Family Latino Gallery, celebrating the history of salsa through his contributions.
