
Pedro "Pete" Ortíz, widely known by his artistic name Pipo Pica, is a Puerto Rican musician, percussionist, singer, arranger, and composer. He relocated to New York in 1963, where he became active in the local Latin music scene.
Ortíz was part of the original lineup of the salsa group The New Swing Sextet. Over his career, he has performed as a vocalist and percussionist, as well as contributing behind the scenes as a musical arranger and composer. His recorded repertoire includes tracks such as "Comen Juntos" and "Sentimiento Borincano."
