Doug Beavers is an American Grammy Award-winning trombonist, composer, arranger, and record producer known for his contributions to Latin jazz, salsa, and timba. Initially planning to study electrical engineering, he chose to pursue music instead, subsequently earning a Bachelor of Arts in music from California State University, East Bay, and a Master of Arts in composition from the Manhattan School of Music. He is also the founder of the music production company and record label Circle 9.
Beavers gained significant recognition after being hired by Latin jazz pianist Eddie Palmieri to transcribe and arrange the repertoire for the album La Perfecta II. Over his career, Beavers has performed and collaborated with various prominent artists and ensembles, including the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Mingus Big Band, Christian McBride, and Paul Simon.
As a leader, Beavers has released several acclaimed projects. His catalog includes albums such as Titanes Del Trombon (2015), Art of the Arrangement (2017), Sol (2020), and Luna (2023). He has also released various singles, including a holiday-themed release in 2013, Mia in 2020, Quédate in 2021, and both Flor de Lis and Multicolores in 2023.
