Chico Benítez is a Puerto Rican singer-songwriter whose musical career spans over three decades, blending romantic salsa, nueva trova, and jazz. He entered the music industry professionally in 1992 as a songwriter, composing tracks for artists signed to the Musical Productions label, such as Tito Rojas and Roberto Roena, during the peak era of salsa romántica.
In 2010, Benítez began releasing his own albums as a solo artist, characterized by songwriting that documents contemporary Puerto Rican history and addresses social issues. His work has been recognized by the Fundación Nacional para la Cultura Popular de Puerto Rico, which honored him with awards in 2010, 2021, and 2024. His musical projects include "Chico Benítez Y Su Neo Trova Revolution" and "Íntimo."
Benítez's catalog features several releases, including the 2024 live album "Chico Benítez Trova Amarela Intimo (En Vivo)" and the singles "Demagogia", "Solo en la Ciudad", and "Yo No Quiero un Continente". In 2025, he released the remastered album "Neo Trova (Remasterizado)".
