Irwin "Wito" Rodriguez is a Chicago-born salsa singer and musician of Puerto Rican descent. He began his musical path as a teenager playing guitar in a rock and roll band before transitioning to Afro-Caribbean and Latin jazz genres in a professional career that spans back to the late 1960s.
Rodriguez became a pioneer of salsa music in Europe when he co-founded the orchestra Conexion Latina alongside German bandleader Rudi Fuesers. The ensemble produced two recordings, Calorcito and Un Poco Loco. After managing his music career through the early 1990s, Rodriguez took a temporary hiatus. Upon returning to the United States, he formed the Wito Rodriguez Salsa Jazz Orchestra under the musical direction of trumpet player and arranger Jacinto Gino Picart.
After returning to active recording, Rodriguez released the album Reload-Recargando in 2021, accompanied by the single Bomba Puertoriquena. In 2022, he released the singles Imagine, You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine, and Mujer Prohibida. His active releases in 2025 include the singles Dos Generaciones, El Musico, Los Dos, Always and Forever, Calorcito, We Never Danced To A Love Song, and Fiesta y Alegria.
