Yarima Blanco is a Cuban tres player and bandleader born in Bayamo, Cuba. She is recognized for her performance on the tres, a traditional Cuban string instrument. In 2006, Blanco became the first woman to graduate from Cuba's University of the Arts (ISA) with a degree majoring in the tres, an achievement that broke barriers in the study of the instrument. She directs and leads her own septet, Yarima Blanco y Son Latino.
Blanco's repertoire primarily spans son cubano and timba. In 2020, she worked with EGREM and Soundwear Productions to record her debut album, 'Pa Mi Tres', which was officially launched in 2021. The album's promotional cycle included the singles 'Pa Mi Tres' in 2021 and 'Pa Mi Tres Ep2' in 2022.
She has continued to record and release new music, including the 2024 single 'El Son Sigue AhÃ'. Through her music and leadership of her ensemble, she remains a prominent figure in contemporary Cuban traditional-based music.
