Carlos "Charlie" Cajares is a Colombian singer-songwriter, percussionist, and bandleader born on July 18 in Cali, Colombia. Known for his work in salsa and mambo, Cajares balanced his musical development with academic pursuits, graduating with a law degree from the Universidad Santiago de Cali. In his musical career, Cajares has served as a performer, bandleader, and music producer, having also performed with established Colombian tropical music institutions like Fruko.
Cajares' catalog dates back to his 2008 album release, Demente. Over the next decade, he released multiple singles, including Inspector Gadget "El Engaño" and The Best of Charlie Cajares in 2010, El Carrapicho in 2011, and Tengo Razones in 2013. His output continued into the late 2010s and early 2020s with single releases such as Llamada de Mi Ex in 2017, Culantro in 2018, and De Colores in 2020, showcasing a style designed for dancers alongside elements of romantic salsa.
In 2025, Cajares released the single En El Balcon Aquel. This production is a salsa adaptation of the classic composition written by Leopoldo Ulloa, a song previously popularized by legendary acts such as La Sonora Matancera with Celio González, Tito RodrÃguez, and Los Lebrón Brothers.
