Mario y Su Timbeko is a contemporary timba and salsa group formed by Cuban drummer, percussionist, singer, and songwriter Mario "Mayito" Salomón. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the band made its live performance debut on the streets of Oakland at the 2018 Temescal Street Fair. The group's musical style centers on popular Cuban salsa, or timba, incorporating influences from R&B, gospel, jazz, and funk.
The ensemble has featured a variety of musicians and collaborators, including percussionists Carlos Caro and Carlitos Medrano, bassists Pedro Pastrana and Ayla Davila, keyboardists Erick Peralta and Jason Moen, guitarist David Lechuga, and vocalists Christelle Durandy, Juan Luis Perez, Mario "Mayombe" Cruz, and Jordan Wilson. Under Salomòn's direction, the group collaborated with Yordys Larrazabal, the lead singer of Maykel Blanco y Su Salsa Mayor, on the 2020 single "Nadie Sabe Nada."
Since 2020, Mario y Su Timbeko has maintained a steady release schedule of singles. Following "Nadie Sabe Nada," they released tracks such as "Llego Lo Que Tu Esperabas." and "Sola Te Quedaste" in 2021, and a live version of "Llego Lo Que Tu Esperabas" in 2022. The band has continued to release new music into the mid-2020s, including "Ya no hay pa' ti" in 2024 and the 2025 singles "Un Día Más" and "Dale Pa' Fuera."
