Pirulo y la Tribu is a contemporary salsa and timba band from San Juan, Puerto Rico, formed by singer and percussionist Francisco "Pirulo" Rosado Rosario. Born in 1977 in the San Jose Reservoir barrio of San Juan, Rosado Rosario established the group in 2009. The band is known for blending classic Afro-Caribbean rhythms with modern production values, fusing Nuyorican salsa, Afro-Cuban son, and Puerto Rican bomba. Their style also incorporates elements of jazz, Latin soul, hip-hop, and urban music.
The band released its debut album, Calle Linda, in the summer of 2013. This release established their signature sound and initiated a major series in their catalog. They followed up this work with several sequels, including Calle Linda 3: El Disco Nuevo in 2021, Calle Linda 4: Salsa y Saoco in 2022, and Calle Linda 5: Positivo in 2025.
In addition to their full-length albums, Pirulo y la Tribu has maintained a consistent output of singles. Between 2020 and 2025, they released tracks such as Dios, Yo Quiero en Navidades, Gracias, No Le Temo a la Vida, Solo Tú, Guillao (Salsa Version), No Te Preocupes, Salud, Dinero y Amor, and Lo Que Siento Por Ti, continuing their active role in the modern salsa and timba landscapes.
