Max Cortés is a Colombian salsa singer, songwriter, and producer born in Popayán, Colombia. Developing an interest in musical creation and performance from an early age, Cortés emerged as a modern artist seeking to bring a fresh, youthful sound to Afro-Antillean music.
Cortés is widely known by his artistic moniker "El Salsero de la Ciudad," which is also the title of one of his notable singles. The song stands as a tribute to "El Muñeco de la Ciudad," a classic salsa track popularized by Bobby Valentín with lead vocals by Cano Estremera. He first drew broader interest with the release of his single "El Amor No Paga," which emerged between 2016 and 2018.
His catalog of singles spans several years of consistent releases. Following his early tracks, Cortés released "Navidad del Pobre" (2017) and followed it with several singles including "Otra Vez" (2020), "Hola Soledad" (2020), "Tan Bonita Pero Tan Mala" (2021), and "Navidad de Pobre" (2021). His active production continued with "Cuando Me Querías" in 2023, "Juguemos" and "Rumba Pa' los Rumberos" in 2024, and "El Salsero de la Ciudad (Remix)" in 2025.
