Tumbatecho Ají is a Colombian salsa orchestra founded in 2013 in Medellín, Colombia, by composer and percussionist Alejandro De María. Hailing from the municipality of Itagüí in the Valle de Aburrá region of Antioquia, the group is known for its signature blend of modern salsa and mambo. The orchestra secured wider international reach after being discovered by Italian DJ Stefano Zalin, leading to a partnership with Al Gabriel, director of the Bibomusic record label.
In their early years, the group debuted with the album "1.0", which showcased original compositions co-written by De María alongside vocalists Marlon Kapry and Faruk Kozma, as well as selected covers such as Roberto Carlos' "Cama y Mesa". Tumbatecho Ají has consistently integrated their regional identity into their repertoire, releasing tracks such as "Pa' Medallo - Feria de las Flores" and the 2024 album "Volver a Comenzar".
Continuing their partnership with Bibomusic, the orchestra paid tribute to their hometown with the 2025 single "Pa' Itagüí". Between 2024 and 2026, the group remained highly active, releasing several singles including "La Creación", "Levantando Los Muertos", "Carta De Un Padre", and "Esto Es Colombia".
