Salsakommúnan is an Icelandic salsa ensemble based in Reykjavík. The group is directed by trombonist Jón Arnar Einarsson and is known for combining Afro-Cuban rhythms and brass-heavy salsa arrangements.
The group debuted in 2017 with the single Ég Spyr, followed by their debut full-length album, Rok í Reykjavík, in 2018. After these initial projects, the band released the singles Birtir til and Í Félagsheimili Seltjarnarness in 2021.
In 2024, Salsakommúnan active status continued with a series of singles. This included the brass-infused descarga Öxar við ána, featuring pianist Baldvin Snær Hlynsson, followed by Í minni skel, which was composed by Sölvi Rögnvaldsson, and the single Stóð ég úti í tunglsljósi.
