Varanda Orquesta was founded in New York City by the Peruvian trombonist, producer, and composer Stalin Rivadeneyra. Prior to establishing the group, Rivadeneyra performed alongside prominent Latin music figures, including Celia Cruz, La India, Cheo Feliciano, Ismael Miranda, and Marvin Santiago. The ensemble focuses on traditional salsa arrangements tailored for dancers.
The orchestra's discography includes the 2024 release "Todo a Su Tiempo," which featured tracks such as "Homenaje a Tito Gómez" and "Entra En Mi Vida." In 2026, Varanda Orquesta released the album "Fifty Fifty." This concept album adapts international pop and rock songs into salsa, with each selection recorded in both Spanish and English versions. The arrangements for "Fifty Fifty" were written by Edwin Zapata and Leo Morales.
