Frankie Negrón is a Puerto Rican-American salsa singer, lyricist, and actor born on January 21, 1977, in Newark, New Jersey. Rising to prominence in the mid-1990s, Negrón became recognized as one of the defining voices of modern salsa romántica. He is known for integrating contemporary influences like pop, R&B, rock, gospel, hip-hop, and reggaetón into traditional tropical rhythms. Negrón grew up in a supportive family that includes his brother, David Negrón, and his younger sister, Jaqueline Negrón, who is also a professional singer and dancer.
Negrón released his debut album, "Con Amor Se Gana," in 1997. The release achieved commercial success and earned Negrón Billboard's "New Artist of the Year" award, cementing his place alongside contemporary tropical artists and soneros who helped modernize the genre during the late 1990s and 2000s.
