Maximino Rivera Rodríguez, nicknamed "La vara de oro," is a Puerto Rican trombonist, pianist, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist. Born on June 12, 1967, in Juana Díaz, Puerto Rico, he is the son of Ramonita Rodríguez and musician Maximino Rivera Cosme.
Throughout his career, Rivera has performed as a sideman for several prominent tropical music ensembles, including Oro Negro, Los Kenton, Willie Crespo, and Grupo Esencia.
In his recent career, Rivera has closely collaborated with Puerto Rican vocalist Robertito Hernández. Billing themselves as a duo, they released the single "Mi Rumba Fina" in 2024, followed by "Pa' Comer y Pa' Acabar" in 2025. In 2026, they released the single "Deja Que Hablen."
