Luis Enrique Mejía López, born September 28, 1962, is a Nicaraguan-American singer-songwriter, composer, and percussionist. Known as "El Príncipe de la Salsa" (The Prince of Salsa), he moved to the United States during his youth, where he attended La Serna High School in Whittier, California. He began his musical career in the late 1980s and became a key pioneer in the development of the salsa romántica movement.
Throughout a career spanning more than three decades, he has released over 20 albums. His popular single "Yo No Sé Mañana" received a Latin Grammy Award for Best Tropical Song. To date, his industry accolades include one Grammy Award, four Latin Grammy Awards, four Lo Nuestro Awards, and four Latin Billboard Awards.
He continues to release new music, including the 2026 singles "Vuelvo a Ser Yo," "Porque Creo en Ti," and "Nombre y Apellido."
