La Mafia is an American Latin music group originating from the Northside neighborhood of Houston, Texas. The group was founded by brothers Oscar and Leonard Gonzalez, who were raised in the north end of Houston. The band is recognized for its versatility and its role in the resurgence of the norteño sound, which integrates elements of traditional Latin music with country and western influences, as well as pop fusions.
Over its career, the group has won five Grammy Awards. La Mafia has achieved four number-one Billboard hits and numerous top-ten singles. Their repertoire includes prominent releases such as "Estas Tocando Fuego" (1991), "Nuestra Cancion" (1991), and "Me Estoy Enamorando" (1992).
The band has toured extensively across the United States, Mexico, and Latin America, and has also performed USO tours in Germany, the Netherlands, and the Balkans. In 2010, the compilation album "Mis Favoritas" was released.
