Juan Carlos Marín, also known as "El Trombón de Santa Amalia," is a Cuban trombonist and composer. Throughout his career, he has been a prominent collaborator in the Cuban music scene, notably serving as a permanent member of the collective Interactivo, led by pianist Roberto Carcassés. Through his work with Interactivo, Marín performed across a diverse range of genres, including jazz, funk, timba, and electronic music.
In 2025, Marín released his debut solo album, "Seductor," under the BIS Music label. The project marked his transition from a veteran ensemble player to a solo bandleader. The album's repertoire showcases a fusion of jazz, blues, timba, son cubano, and Afro-Cuban rhythms, reflecting his active placement in the Latin jazz, timba, and nueva trova musical spheres.
