Founded in 2018 in Colombia, El Clan del Solar is a salsa orchestra directed by trombonist Germán Ruiz, also known as "Germán El Trombón." Before leading the group, Ruiz established himself as a session and touring musician, performing with artists and ensembles such as Mauro Castillo, Toño Barrio, Pibo Márquez, and La Colombiana Orquesta. The orchestra itself comprises experienced musicians who have built careers backing popular international and national salsa performers.
The group's recording history includes a version of the Grupo Niche classic "Mi Hijo y Yo," paying tribute to composer Jairo Varela. Between 2021 and 2024, El Clan del Solar released several singles such as "Funny Boogaloo - Español" (2022), "Mambo Rock" (2023), "Tu Carta" (2023), "Que Se Sepa" (2024), and "Amor Verdadero" (2024). In 2025, they released the full-length album "La Salsa Esta Muerta...Pero De La Risa," expanding on their signature energetic style.
