Nueva Crónica Latina is a Panamanian salsa project founded in Panama City by composer and producer Felipe Argote. Conceptually framed as a Latin opera project, the ensemble blends traditional salsa with regional sounds, including Panamanian "típico" music. Since debuting on the recording scene in 2022, the group has served as a creative vehicle for Argote's compositions, featuring collaborations with various notable Panamanian vocalists and musicians.
Following their initial 2022 singles "Cimarrón" and "Dicen Por Ahí," the group released a string of tracks in 2023, including "Casimiro," "Carmen Luzmila," "Abandonado y Loco," "Mama Chi," and "La Salsa No Ha Muerto," the latter featuring sonero Victor Jaramillo. After releasing "Tiempo Para Soñar" and "Para El Viejo" in 2024, Nueva Crónica Latina collaborated with Roberto Delgado y Orquesta and Orlando Barroso for the 2025 single "Mi Bicicleta." The project has also integrated traditional elements by collaborating with Panamanian artist Osvaldo Ayala.
