Sonido 70 is a Colombian salsa band formed in Armenia, Quindío, by trombonist and director Hernando "Coco" Ramírez. The orchestra was founded to revive the aggressive, trombone-driven sound characteristic of New York and Puerto Rican salsa groups from the 1970s.
Spanning the genres of salsa and Latin jazz, the band's catalog includes the self-titled album "Sonido 70", followed by "El Regreso", "Sonido 70 Y Su Ritmo Candente", and "Suelta Las Armas". Their instrumentation and arrangements focus on capturing a classic salsa dura style.
In 2025, the group released the album "Te Tumbo El Rumbón". Following its release, Sonido 70 made their debut appearance at the Salsa al Parque festival in Bogotá.
