Las Mariquitas is an intergenerational queer and trans salsa band based in New York City. Functioning as a political liberation project, the band aims to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ salsero community and honor the legacy of salsa as liberation music. Their performances frequently incorporate live salsa dance lessons led by queer and trans instructors to foster a culture of consent on the dance floor.
Drawing inspiration from the sound of 1970s-era salsa, the group writes original queer and transfeminist songs and reimagines classic salsa compositions. Las Mariquitas has held residencies at New York venues including C'mon Everybody and the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural & Educational Center, and has performed at the Brooklyn Museum. They also headlined Transmission, New York City's first trans music festival. In 2025, the group released the single "Como Me Quiero".
