Edwin Ortiz y La Mafia Del Guaguanco is a 10-piece salsa orchestra established in 1985 by bandleader Edwin Ortiz. Originally known as Orquesta La Romana, the group was formed after Ortiz relocated from New York City to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area to address a lack of live salsa music in the region. The ensemble went on to receive local acclaim, being voted the best Latin band in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area for ten consecutive years.
In their later career, the group collaborated with producer Isidro Infante on recordings tracked in Puerto Rico. Between 2020 and 2024, they released a active catalog of singles, including Domino and Despues De Todo in 2020, followed by Pal Bailador and Ese Beso in 2023. They continued their output in 2024 with the singles Todos Saben De Rumba, Bacalao Embrujao, and Diferente A Las Demas.
