Monsi y Su Salsa is a contemporary salsa project led by musical director Simon Monserrat. Born into a musical family of Venezuelan heritage, Monserrat was raised by percussionists; both his father and his uncle Roberto played percussion. His uncle Roberto was the founder of El Combo Caribe, which later evolved into Federico y su Combo, a historic Venezuelan band widely recognized for releasing the record 'Llegó la Salsa'. Monserrat began his own professional career as a musician in the mid-1980s.
The recorded output of Monsi y Su Salsa focuses extensively on traditional and modern Tropical genres like son cubano and timba. The group released the album 'Pal Bailador' in 2020, alongside singles such as 'La Salsa Soy Yo', 'Federico Boogaloo', and 'Son Montuno Apretaito'. Their discography continued to expand with 'La Salsa Venezolana' in 2021, 'Ay Dios Mio (Bachata Remix)' in 2022, a version of 'Pata Pata' in 2023, and 'Ay Venezuela' in 2024. In 2025, they released the singles 'No Lyrics Song' and 'Dicen que soy, Changuisero'.
