Nicoyembe is a Colombian singer, songwriter, and arranger born in Quibdó, Chocó. Recognized for his contributions to Afro-Colombian folk, salsa, and regional rhythms of both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts, his artistic path began in the Llanos Orientales of Colombia. He subsequently relocated to San Andrés Island and later to Bogotá, gradually expanding his audience to countries such as Brazil, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and the United States.
With a career spanning over 50 years, Nicoyembe's discography includes the 2021 albums "A Toda Costa" and "Nuestras Raíces Al Son Del Caribe," as well as the 2022 single "Lamento de Pescadores (Versión Reggae)." In recognition of his musical legacy, he was honored with a career tribute concert titled "Entre mares y ríos, mi voz es historia" at the Teatro Jorge Eliécer Gaitán in Bogotá.
