Pablo Pérez Barroso, known artistically as "El Alcalde de la Salsa," is an American percussionist, composer, and producer. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, Pérez has lived in Belgium and the Washington, D.C. area, balancing a career in music with work in politics. He began his recording career in 2005 with the release of "The Pablo Perez Project," and also performed as a bongosero on the album "Algo Diferente" by Héctor Islas y su Pacucho 21.
Pérez leads the group Pablo Pérez "El Alcalde de la Salsa" y su Orquesta, based out of Alexandria, Virginia, performing genres such as salsa and salsa choke. His recordings include the 2023 single "La Cuquita" and the 2024 single "Aprende a Bailar." In 2024, he released the albums "Súper Bailable" and "En Camino." His 2026 single, "El Camino Hacia Tu Alma," is an original composition arranged by Víctor Gámez.
