Ilsa Melina Almodóvar Sánchez, known professionally as Melina Almodóvar, is a Puerto Rican salsa singer, songwriter, dancer, and entertainer. Born on June 3, 1979, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, she grew up in an artistic family where her father sang bolero and her mother danced flamenco. Often referred to by the nicknames "La Muñeca de la Salsa" and "La Chica Del Bling," Almodóvar is recognized for combining traditional, old-school salsa moves with contemporary singing and dancing styles.
Almodóvar established the Orquesta Caliente salsa orchestra, which helped build her presence across the Southern United States. Her recording career features numerous live and studio releases, including the 2015 live album Pasion & Salsa Live, followed by a succession of singles such as "Estoy Aquí" in 2016, "Andale, Pon a Sonar el Guiro" in 2017, and "Con Mi Sabor" in 2019.
Throughout the 2020s, Almodóvar continued to release new music regularly. Her work during this decade includes "La Cita (Live)" in 2020, the "Latin Jazz And Salsa Show Virtual Festival (Live)" in 2021, and the singles "Voy Pa' la Calle" and "Estamos en Navidad" in 2022. She followed these with "La Vida es Bella - Mira Lo Bueno" in 2023, "Corazón Salsero" in 2024, and the 2025 releases "Baila Hollywood" and the live album En Vivo Desde Hollywood Salsa Fest.
