Launched in July 2012, Buena Vibra Sextet is a Seattle-based salsa group led by Steve Guasch. Composed of musicians from the Pacific Northwest, the ensemble performs a variety of Latin rhythms including salsa, mambo, son cubano, timba, Latin jazz, cha-cha-cha, guaguancó, and bolero. Their repertoire is specifically arranged to appeal to live salsa dancers.
The band released its debut album, Hecho a Mano, in 2016. They followed this in 2023 with the single De La Fria a La Caliente and their second full-length album, Flor de Verano, released through Salsaneo Records. Flor de Verano features lead vocals from Joshuah de Jesus alongside Francis Rosa Vélez, a young sonero from Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, who relocated to the Seattle area. Prior to joining the sextet, Vélez performed in Puerto Rico and New York with groups such as El Rumbón de los 13, Borinsalsa, and Evolution Salsa Proyect.
