Direct Latin Influence is a salsa and mambo project associated with musician and educator David Chamberlain. Raised in Buffalo, New York, Chamberlain moved to New York City in 1966, where he first became involved with Latin music as a teacher at the South Bronx Community Action Theater. During this period, he mentored students from the High School of Music & Art, teaching them music fundamentals while they introduced him to salsa.
The project's discography includes the albums "Dli Vol 1" and "Dli Vol 2" (also referred to as "DLI II"), the latter of which was released in 2006. Some of the notable tracks associated with the group include "A La La E" and "Tatalibaba".
