Doris Lavin is a Cuban singer, composer, and producer recognized for her contributions to son cubano, salsa, timba, and Afro-Cuban jazz. After establishing her career as an in-demand vocalist in Cuba, she was praised by the Cuban trumpeter Lázaro Herrera, who characterized her as a timeless sonera in the tradition of legendary artists Celia Cruz and La Lupe. In 1996, Lavin relocated to Italy, where she continued her active recording and performing career.
Lavin's music reflects a blend of traditional African and Cuban influences. Her digital discography includes the 2020 singles "Pa Que" and "Homenaje a Merceditas Valdés (Aché)", followed by "Soy Son Con Rumba" and "Ibelli Changó" in 2021. She continued releasing material with "Tu Promesa Cayó al Piso" and "Hablamos de Santería" in 2022.
Her more recent projects feature the 2023 album "Orunmila" (and its accompanying afrobeat version), the 2024 single "Canto Santero", and the 2025 album "Reminiscencias". She expanded her catalog into 2026 with the release of the single "A Bailar mi Son".
