Alexander Delgado is a Cuban singer and songwriter, born in August 1979 in the Alamar municipality of Havana, Cuba. Before establishing his career in music, he pursued several occupations, including selling coffee cake on Cuban beaches, playing basketball, and practicing Greco-Roman wrestling. In 2000, Delgado founded the group Gente de Zona, blending reggaeton and cubatón rhythms with traditional forms of Cuban music.
As the leader of Gente de Zona alongside Randy Malcom, Delgado achieved widespread international recognition. He co-created the hit song "Bailando," a 2014 collaboration with Descemer Bueno and Enrique Iglesias that won three Latin Grammy Awards. Over his career, Delgado has become a six-time Latin Grammy winner and has also established business ventures, including owning the venue Lo D'Alex Miami on Calle 8 in Miami, Florida.
Delgado has also released independent and collaborative tracks within the Cuban timba genre. His catalog features pieces such as the 2022 single "Nadie Te Cree" and the 2024 release "Abusaste."
