Jeff Lopez is an American jazz bassist, composer, arranger, and educator from Staten Island, New York. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Berklee College of Music and a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music. Throughout his career, he has written numerous big band compositions alongside his work as a performing bassist.
His catalog as a bandleader and composer includes the 2022 album Sextants and Quadrants, which was supported by several single releases including Guagua, Feeling Blue, Healing Waters, Marisol, and Requiem for a Featherweight. He followed these with the 2023 single 7th Ave Southpaw. In 2025, Lopez continued releasing material under his name, including the singles Polarity, Infernal Jamnation, The Augur's Tale - Three Scenes, and Euphrates.
His 2025 single Chili Sauce highlights his interest in Latin music, fusing jazz improvisation with the energetic rhythms of salsa and timba. The recording features performances by saxophonist Adam Hutcheson, trombonist Victor Fuenmayor, and Alex Brown.
