La Sonora Carruseles is a Colombian tropical music group formed in 1995 in Medellín, Colombia. The band was founded by Mario Rincón "Pachanga," who served as the musical director for the Discos Fuentes record label. Originally conceived as an experimental project during a sound rehearsal, the group quickly gained traction and released its debut album, Espectacular, that same year. Their music primarily spans the genres of salsa, merengue, and mambo.
The group's high-energy catalog has reached international audiences, with their tracks featured on televised dance programs such as So You Think You Can Dance. In August 2015, the band experienced a significant wave of global interest when U.S. President Barack Obama included their song "La Salsa la Traigo Yo!" on his personal summer music playlist.
With a recording career spanning several decades, Sonora Carruseles has maintained a steady output of releases. Their discography includes albums such as Heavy Salsa, Maestros de la Salsa Dura, and Con Todos los Hierros in 2015, as well as Cuero, Campana & Swing in 2020. The band has also documented their performances on releases like !Live! 2021, and has continued issuing singles, including "Quinto Mayor" in 2022, "La Salsa Vive" in 2023, and "si tu cuerpo te pide salsa" in 2025.
