Sara Elena Ramírez is a Mexican-American singer, songwriter, and actress. Born in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico, Ramírez moved to the United States at age eight and later graduated with a fine arts degree from the Juilliard School. Ramírez achieved early critical acclaim on Broadway, winning the 2005 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for originating the role of the Lady of the Lake in the musical Spamalot.
Ramírez is also widely recognized for portraying Dr. Callie Torres on the television medical drama Grey's Anatomy. Alongside acting, Ramírez has released several musical recordings, including the single Silent Night in 2009, the self-titled Sara Ramirez - EP in 2011, and the single Rollercoaster in 2015.
