
Joe Michel Maza Márquez, known professionally as Michel Maza, was born on March 16, 1978, in Havana, Cuba. Born into a musical family as the son of Pepe Maza and singer Beatriz Márquez, he studied piano during his youth at the Manuel Saumell music school. In 1995, at the age of 16, Maza joined the famous Cuban group Charanga Habanera, rising to prominence as one of the band's principal lead vocalists.
Following his tenure with Charanga Habanera, Maza established a solo career, later relocating to Peru where he continued performing timba, salsa, and son cubano. His solo discography includes major releases such as the 2022 album "Salí Echaaandoo...!!!" and the 2025 album "El Baile Del Azucar." He has also released numerous singles, including "Regresé Con Mi Gente," "Lo Siento Por Ti," "Dime Que Te Quedaras," and "Lola Lola."
