Jorge Mario Vanegas, professionally known as Mario Kaona, is a Colombian percussionist, bandleader, and artist based in Medellín, Colombia. Performing in the salsa and Latin jazz genres, Kaona serves as the director of his ensemble, Mario Kaona & My Killer Mambo. His work is characterized by the fusion of traditional salsa with Latin jazz harmonies and contemporary elements.
Kaona debuted in the catalog with the 2011 album "Jazz Montuno". In 2022, he released the single "No te Voy a Copiar," a collaboration featuring singer David Zahan, alongside the single "El Dictador." Following the 2023 single "Montuno Melodioso," Kaona released the full-length studio album "El Dictador" in 2024.
