Awilda Hernandez, known artistically as "La Emperatriz de la Salsa," was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico. She completed her school studies in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, which is where she began her career as a vocalist.
Hernandez's solo discography includes several salsa singles released between 2020 and 2022. In 2020, she released "Cierra los Ojos," "El Sabor De Mi Piña," and "Hoy Canto por Cantar." She followed these with the single "Mi Estilo y Sabor" in 2021, and concluded her active catalog period with "Señora Rumba" and "Amor por Ti" in 2022. Throughout her career active in the salsa genre, she has collaborated with multiple industry composers and artists.
