Jose Fajardo Jr. was born in New York City on January 29, 1972. The son of the influential Cuban flutist and bandleader Jose Fajardo, who led the orchestra Fajardo Y Sus Estrellas, he began playing percussion with his father at age three and took up the timbales at age four.
Throughout his career, Fajardo Jr. has worked as a percussionist and singer. He has recorded and performed alongside his father, as well as with artists and ensembles such as Johnny Pacheco, Larry Harlow, Orchestra Broadway, Azuquita, Alfredo De La Fe, Tipica 73, and the Fania All-Stars. He also launched his own ensemble, the Jose Fajardo Jr. Orchestra, and recorded a tribute project dedicated to his father's legacy, titled "Diamante Homenaje Salsero A La Música Del 'Rey De La Flauta' José Fajardo".
Active in the salsa and timba genres, Fajardo Jr. has released various solo works. His single releases include "No Tiene Rival" in 2015, "Busco un Amor" in 2020, and "Con Mi Corazon Te Espero" and "Ya Es Tiempo" in 2021. He followed these in 2025 with the single "África Linda".
