The New York Sextet was a Latin music ensemble founded by the Colombian director, producer, and artist Diego Galé alongside a group of Colombian and Puerto Rican musicians based in New York City. The group specialized in traditional Latin rhythms, specifically mambo, cha-cha-chá, salsa, and Latin jazz.
In 2005, the group released the studio album "Recordando Los Sextetos." The record was produced as a tribute to the classic sextets of the mid-20th century, honoring influential ensembles such as Sexteto La Playa and the Joe Cuba Sextet. Among the tracks featured on the release was their rendition of the song "Salsa ahí na'ma."
