Pedro Pablo Vázquez Rodríguez, professionally known as Ondy Vázquez, was born in Havana, Cuba, on November 4, 1969. With an artistic career spanning more than 27 years, he is highly recognized for his tenure as a lead vocalist for the legendary Conjunto Arsenio Rodríguez, a role he held for over a decade. His musical style is deeply rooted in son cubano, timba, and Afro-Cuban music.
In 2015, he established his own band, Ondy Vázquez y Los Guardianes del Ritmo, which solidified its current lineup in 2019. The group signed with Zanja Record, a record label based in Spain and directed by Colombian music collector Alex González.
Ondy Vázquez y Los Guardianes del Ritmo made their album debut in 2021 with "Montuneando," released under the Producciones Abdala label. This was followed by the releases of the singles "Privilegio" and "La Vida Que Elegiste Tú" in 2022. In 2024, the group released the single "Sonora Por Siempre," featuring collaborations with guest artists Alexander Abreu and María Victoria.
